Accessing the PPI Site

You can copy the link above into your web browser to access the site using any of the current versions of industry standard web browsers (Microsoft EDGE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

When you enter your first PPI/repo tow, you will enter your main company 10-digit company code and click on “look up”.

 

This number will be utilized by the municipality to contact your company if there is conflicting information or if they require additional information.

The company codes will be preloaded if you will receive the message below do not proceed. Try again using your company code.

 

 

Recording a Tow

The shaded fields are required fields and the non-shaded fields permit the user to provide additional information and notes

  • Enter the VIN # and the vehicle information will automatically be decoded and populated. If the VIN dose not decode, please verify the information is correct. If this is a non-standard VIN# or the VIN# is missing or obstructed, check the appropriate box.

  • Reference Number: Can put invoice number but not required

  • The “Tow Destination” is your office/lot

  • Requested By: Enter the name of requestor. If you have a contract with the property you can write ‘per agreement’

  • The “Tow Company Rep” is the person entering the vehicle information

  • The “Driver” is the name of the person who performed the tow

    • This information will be saved and can be edited as necessary

  • Driver ID: Put the driver’s personal phone number

  • Notes: Type in any vehicle damage, or any issues that should be noted. If it is a trailer loaded with another vehicles/watercraft etc. please notate. Include any VIN/serial information. Auto Records will need to process those items.

 

 

After all required information is entered and you have checked the “I’m not a robot” check box, click on the “Submit” button to submit your impound and you will receive a confirmation number.

 

Make sure you record the confirmation number, as it is needed to record changes on the tow record.

 

Adding Pictures

Photos are required. Document how the vehicle is in violation, including signage, and the VIN. Suggested to also take pictures of damage.

 

Once a tow is submitted, you can drag and drop photos into the grey box. These photos will get automatically added to the tow record.

 

An image of the uploaded photo will appear in the grey box.

 

Editing a Tow Record

If you need to edit a PPI/Repo that you have submitted, enter your confirmation number and select “Edit and Earlier Entry” to make the necessary corrections. You will be able to update either the License Plate or the VIN. Any other changes will require a phone call to AutoReturn (855-807-9336).

Note: If the confirmation number is unknown, it can be found by searching for the vehicle in ARIES/Impound. The confirmation will be in the TR Number column of the search results.

 

If you are not a police rotation tower, the confirmation number can be found by searching for the vehicle at https://search.autoreturn.com/.

 

Reporting Vehicle Release/Sale

To report the release or sale of a vehicle, enter your confirmation number and select “Edit and Earlier Entry”. Select either the Vehicle Sold or Vehicle Released checkbox. Then, enter the License or VIN of the vehicle and click Submit.

 

Note: If the confirmation number is unknown, it can be found by searching for the vehicle in ARIES/Impound. The confirmation will be in the TR Number column of the search results.

 

If you are not a police rotation tower, the confirmation number can be found by searching for the vehicle at https://search.autoreturn.com/.

PPI Exceptions

On your exception report you will see the following PPI exceptions:

  • RCVD-3 Days: If the vehicle has been identified for a Recovery, the vehicle and owner contact info will appear on the report for 3 days. There is no way to clear this exception. It will fall off after 3 Days.

  • PPI VINCHECK: Auto Records needs a new VIN. Update the VIN using the Editing a Tow Record instructions above. This will remove the exception. If the VIN is correct, call Auto Record.
